Curse you Easton Press!

July 29th, 2009

1535_zAs I mentioned just the other day I began reading Master and Commander by Patrick O’Brian and got hooked and will be reading the rest of the series. (And I know Nicolle just loves hearing about this.)

Enter Easton Press.  I know they had a fine edition of the Aubrey/Maturin series but it had slipped my mind since they haven’t been promoting it recently.  But lo and behold in my most recent shipment of the current volume in their Library of Great Poetry, the insert was for, yup you guessed it, The Aubrey/Maturin books.

They must read my blog. I’m feeling a little paranoid now.  But, like a good addict, I sent the response card in.  So it looks like I’ll have the rest of the series coming in monthly for the next two years (I have books 2-4 coming from Amazon, which is fine since multiple copies don’t bother me).

This is how I end up with a house full of books.

Featured Volume- The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne

I purchased this edition of The Mysterious Island from the Easton Press back at the end of the summer. I finally got around to taking a few pictures of it to show it off.

As with all of the Easton Press books I have, I am not disappointed with this book. Easton Press continues to produce one of the finer collector’s editions of books in the US. It has an introduction by Ray Badbury and is the original English translation of the work.  There are probably better translations or more modern ones, but this one suits me just fine.

One huge book

November 18th, 2008

Just received in the mail. Leonardo da Vinci The Complete Paintings and Drawings.  Just an incredible book.  Filled with great reproductions of his work. It will take me days to go through it all.

And it is a huge book as well.  About as wide and as long as a legal size file folder and as thick as a NYC telephone book.  East Press did a great job with this edition. » Read more: One huge book
