Chizine Publications is issuing more and more of their books electronically. Just the fact they have Lavie Tidhar’s The Tel Aviv Dossier is worth the price of admission. If you haven’t read Lavie’s work you are missing big time. He has had short work published in Clarkesworld Magazine (free online), Horror Literature Quarterly (free online), and he has several novellas and novels out.
The entire Discworld Series- I have always wanted to read this. The 37 books that make up this series though takes up a lot of space, even as paperbacks. But it looks like a significant number of them on ready to be read in electronic format.
Black Static and Interzone on Fictionwise. Black Static and Interzone are two magazine I would love to have issues of but since they are UK publications the cost of subscriptions and even single issues isn’t worth it for me to purchase them. The fact that they are on Fictionwise gives me the opportunity to get great fiction easy.
Plenty of other niche magazines, as I said in my previous post, Steampunk Tales and the Steampunk Magazine are both released in PDF format. I suspect that there are plenty of small magazines that issue PDF formats of their issues that can easily be transferred over to the Nook.
BN is giving away more free books. That’s a no brain-er.
Corey Doctorow’s books are available all over the place. Chalk that up to free books. Along with free books Tor has stories for free that you can download in PDF format as well.
There just seems to be more reasons for me to get one when it comes out. The only thing I could think of that would keep me from getting one would be how it works and how easy it is to use. And since Barnes and Noble are installing Nook kiosks in their stores for people to try I’ll know within the first day it comes out if it is worth getting.
