Current Wish List of Reading and Buying

October 6th, 2009

I’m not completely impulsive about books.  Or more precisely about buying books.  There are times, of course, when I can’t help it and just buy something, like I did this past Sunday.  I had mentioned earlier that I was moving on to other books while awaiting the new Easton Press shipments of the Aubrey/Maturin Series.

That didn’t last.

I picked up Desolation Island on Sunday along with the Mammoth Book of Men of War as well.  Those were impulse buys.  I admit it.  And I’ll start Desolation Island when I finish up The Stress of Her Regard.

But usually I just move things to my Amazon wish list as I come upon them and now utilizing Amazon’s iPhone App’s full features, there are more books added to my wish list.

Look what the Amazon Man Brought me.

July 31st, 2009

photo I new this delivery was coming.  But Amazon was estimating a delivery of next week.  Much to my surprise it landed on my desk before I headed out to the shore.  Which is very cool because I can start on book 2 by the pool.

Book 4 is still on its way to me but no worries on my part.

Curse you Easton Press!

July 29th, 2009

1535_zAs I mentioned just the other day I began reading Master and Commander by Patrick O’Brian and got hooked and will be reading the rest of the series. (And I know Nicolle just loves hearing about this.)

Enter Easton Press.  I know they had a fine edition of the Aubrey/Maturin series but it had slipped my mind since they haven’t been promoting it recently.  But lo and behold in my most recent shipment of the current volume in their Library of Great Poetry, the insert was for, yup you guessed it, The Aubrey/Maturin books.

They must read my blog. I’m feeling a little paranoid now.  But, like a good addict, I sent the response card in.  So it looks like I’ll have the rest of the series coming in monthly for the next two years (I have books 2-4 coming from Amazon, which is fine since multiple copies don’t bother me).

This is how I end up with a house full of books.
