After picking up the first volume of Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin series I was spellbound by the series. I thoroughly enjoy it and can’t wait until I can get into the next volume. And I suspect I shall be melancholic when I finish the last book, but there is always rereading it.
I was hesitant at first to begin the series. Twenty-one books is a huge series. I am currently taking my time with it. I was happy that I stopped reading them back to back. Reading other books in between the books of the series allowed me time to begin to miss Captain Jack Aubrey and Dr Stephen Maturin so when I picked up the next in the series I felt as if I was meeting long lost friends after years apart. And I learned to discover new things about the characters that I think I would have missed if I read book after book.
Since then I have written a few entries about the series and I wanted to consolidate them here along with a few other links pertaining to Patrick O’Brian and his wonderful series.
